Los Angeles filmmaker Larry Torro set out to make what should have been a short film about his New York Italian family. Instead he inadvertently found himself doing a film about his aging "Uncle Jimmy". Jimmy 9 Lives, a high-ranking member of an East Coast crime family.

With Jimmy as his guide Torro spent the next eleven harrowing months becoming a reluctant participant in illegal activities as well as encountering some violent yet fascinating career criminals.
